A Rostraver man was jailed Wednesday after state police said he drugged and raped a woman earlier this month.

Nathaniel T. Johnston, 33, of the Collinsburg neighborhood, is charged with rape of a substantially impaired person, sexual assault and related offenses.

The female accuser told troopers that Johnston gave her GHB, a depressant, Aug. 7 and raped her, according to court papers. She reported losing consciousness during the assault and woke hours later. She went to AHN Neighborhood Hospital in Hempfield.

During an interview with police, Johnston admitted to having sex with the woman and said it appeared her eyes were barely open, according to court papers.

His bail was set at $100,000. Johnston did not have an attorney listed in online court records. A preliminary hearing is set for Aug. 28.
