A Sewickley Township man is behind bars after state police said he charged at his neighbor over the weekend with a knife, according to court papers.

Kurtis C. Baker, 33, was arrested after the neighbor grabbed the knife and held the suspect down until troopers arrived. Baker is charged with several misdemeanors, including terroristic threats, simple assault and loitering and prowling at night.

The neighbor reported investigating a noise he heard outside his Yukon Road home, just north of Yukon, around 4 a.m. Saturday, according to court papers. As the neighbor walked to his vehicles to check his tires, the suspect raised a knife above his head and ran at the man, police said a witness reported.

Baker told police he intended to cut the tires on his neighbor’s vehicle and admitted to damaging surveillance cameras. They were valued at $200. Troopers seized a black folding knife, a set of brass knuckles Baker was wearing, a small bag of suspected methamphetamine and a head lamp, according to court papers.

Bail was set at $20,000. Baker was being held at the Westmoreland County Prison. A preliminary hearing is set for Monday. He did not have an attorney listed in online court records.
