A local organization was awarded over $443,000 to expand two of its services.

The Private Industry Council of Westmoreland/Fayette is set to use the PAsmart Advancing Grant money to expand their Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics program, or STEM, along with their computer science program.

“Grants like these help schools, universities and agencies strengthen their curriculum and programs to better serve our children and young adults as they prepare for their future and enter the workforce,” Ryan Warner, R-Fayette/Westmoreland, said in a press release.

The Private Industry Council of Westmoreland/Fayette is a non-profit based out of Greensburg. The organization offers employment, education and training programs.

Officials from the company could not be immediately reached for comment.
