State police are trying to identify two people who made off with $1,000 worth of merchandise after investigators said they did a quick-change scam at a children’s clothing store in Hempfield.
Troopers released surveillance images of the suspects on Monday in connection with the April 25 incident at Carter’s in the Greengate Centre plaza off Route 30. The photos show the pair at the cash register with a pile of children’s clothing.
The male suspect was wearing a ball cap and blue shirt and the female suspect had dark hair and was wearing a gray long-sleeved shirt. Anyone with information on their identities can contact troopers at 724-832-3288.
Quick-change scammers typically attempt to confuse or distract cashiers and use cash to exchange money in an effort to shortchange the store.
