Smoke pours out as firefighters battle a blaze Thursday morning at a home on Murrysville’s Sinan Drive. A resident was able to escape the burning house, a fire official said.

A resident was able to escape a burning Murrysville home Thursday morning, according to White Valley Fire Chief John Bohinc.

The blaze on Sinan Drive, a rural road near Murrysville Community Park, was reported around 9 a.m.

Bohinc said there were flames through the roof in the rear corner of the home when firefighters arrived.

Much of the roof appeared to be damaged about an hour after the blaze was reported, and firefighters from several companies dealt with smoky conditions.

Murrysville police are investigating.
