Resurfacing slated for sections of routes 30, 130 in Westmoreland County
Road surface improvements will affect motorists traveling on five state routes in Westmoreland County during the coming months.
The $11.3 million project will begin Monday — resulting in single-lane alternating traffic, where needed, between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays.
Depending on weather conditions, work on the project is expected to continue through late October. Flaggers will be on hand to control traffic.
Roads that are part of the project include:
• Route 30 between Malts Lane and Rocky Road/Ronda Court in North Huntingdon.
• Route 30 in areas of Unity, Derry and Ligonier townships: eastbound between St. Xavier’s and Longbridge roads; westbound between Idlewild Hill and St. Xavier’s roads.
• Route 130 (Clopper Street) between College Avenue and North Main Street in Greensburg.
• Pittsburgh Street between Hornertown Road and Route 819 (Broadway Avenue) in East Huntingdon.
• Youghiogheny Street between Asher Lane and Coal Street in Adamsburg and Hempfield.
• Hancock Avenue between Leona Lane and Route 56 (Custer Avenue) in Allegheny Township.
Tresco Paving will conduct milling, base repair, laying of leveling and wearing courses and pavement marking.
Route 982 has reopened to traffic between Double Hill Road and Claypike Road/Kecksburg Road in Mt. Pleasant Township after being closed while PennDOT crews replaced a pipe and installed an inlet.
Meanwhile, PennDOT is planning the following additional work on roads in Westmoreland County during the week beginning Monday:
• A slide repair, with a single-lane restriction, will continue on Donohoe Road in Hempfield.
• Road surface improvements will take place on Hawkeye Road in East Huntingdon.
• Trench restoration will take place on Pandora Road in Derry Township.
• Washout repairs will be conducted on Murrysville Trafford Road in Penn Township.
• Edge paving will take place on Rostraver Road and Nicholls Hill Road in Rostraver and on Waltz Mill Road in South Huntingdon and Sewickley townships.
• Shoulder cutting will take place on Route 31 (Laurelville Road) in Mt. Pleasant Township.
• Shoulder stabilization will take place on Route 217 in Derry Township; Route 711 in Cook and Ligonier townships; and Solomon Temple Road in Unity.
• Ditching will take place on Route 201 (Rostraver Road) in Rostraver and Catalina Farm Road in East Huntingdon.
• Pipes will be replaced on Route 982 in Derry and Unity townships and on Pandora Road in Derry Township.
• Pipe maintenance will take place on Route 51 in Rostraver and on Mt. Nebo Church Road in East Huntingdon.
• Pipe installations will take place on Wilpen Road in Ligonier Township and on Laughner Road in Fairfield.
Crews will pick up litter, replace road signs and perform other tasks on various routes countywide.
Motorists should anticipate potential detours, lane restrictions and flaggers in work areas.
