Motorists in Westmoreland County can expect to encounter detours related to road projects beginning Monday in West Newton and Allegheny Township and Tuesday in Mt. Pleasant Township.

• In Manor, work on a storm sewer is slated to restrict traffic beginning Monday and trigger a detour beginning Aug. 26.

The $1.9 million project will affect traffic on Brush Creek Road between Brush and Trolley streets. A single- lane restriction will be in effect through Aug. 23, while excavation work is underway.

Asphalt paving, set for Aug. 26-28, will require motorists to detour along Penn, Elm, Third and Broadway streets and Penn Manor Road.

• According to PennDOT, the Robertson Street railroad crossing is expected to remain closed Monday through Aug. 23 in West Newton, allowing crews from CSX Transportation to perform maintenance. Traffic will be diverted along North Second Street and Plummer School, Herminie-West Newton, Lowber and Sutersville roads.

• PennDOT will close a section of Allegheny Township’s Hulton Road on Monday morning so crews can install a precast concrete box culvert, replacing the superstructure of a bridge over a Chartiers Run tributary.

The closure, between Spooky Hollow and Oberleiter roads, is scheduled to be in place through mid-November.

Traffic will be detoured along White Cloud and Melwood roads.

The $600,000 project also includes widening and repaving the approaching roadway and replacing some guide rail.

• In Mt. Pleasant Township, Ankney Hill Road will be closed Tuesday through early September while PennDOT maintenance crews complete slide repairs. The work is expected to cost $100,000.

A posted detour will direct drivers along Clay Pike Road and Welty Run Road (Route 982).
