Three motorists were taken at area hospitals for treatment following a two-vehicle collision Sunday on Route 51 in Rostraver Township.

The crash happened around 12:45 p.m. in the southbound lanes of the highway, near Willowbrook Plaza. Two patients were taken by ambulance to a local hospital. A third was taken to Rostraver Airport and then airlifted to a Pittsburgh trauma center, according to a Westmoreland County 911 dispatcher.

Rostraver Central Fire Department responded. Several lanes of Route 51 were closed temporarily as Rostraver Township police investigated.

Other details weren’t immediately available.
