Rostraver man gets house arrest in drunken-driving crash that injured girl
The most serious charges against a Rostraver man were dropped Wednesday in exchange for a guilty plea in connection with a November 2018 crash that left a 12-year-old girl injured.
Anzalone Jones, 63, was sentenced to six months of intermediate punishment and 90 days of home electronic monitoring on charges of driving under the influence and a traffic violation. Charges of aggravated assault by vehicle while driving under the influence and aggravated assault by vehicle, both felonies, were dismissed as part of the plea agreement.
Police said Jones crashed into another vehicle at 10 p.m., Nov. 12, 2018, at the intersection of Rostraver Road and Vance DeiCas Highway. Jones had a “strong odor” of alcohol, glassy eyes and poor balance. He was unable to perform field sobriety tests and refused to submit to have blood drawn.
The injured child, who had two broken ribs, was a passenger in the other vehicle.
