The southbound lanes of Route 119 at Route 819 in East Huntingdon reopened just after 9 p.m., following a fatal crash involving a vehicle and pedestrian late Tuesday afternoon.

The crash was reported just after 3:45 p.m., according to a Westmoreland County 911 supervisor.

The Westmoreland County Coroner’s Office has been called to the scene, Coroner Kenneth Bacha said.

The area around the 119/819 intersection, along East Huntingdon’s eastern border, has been a trouble spot for crashes, with 28 crashes occurring in 2019, according to PennDOT statistics.

More than 20 of those crashes involved at least one injury.
