A portion of Route 130 will be closed to traffic beginning Tuesday as crews conduct landslide repairs in Penn Township, just west of Jeannette.

The closure will be in effect between 14th Street and Burrell Hill Road and is expected to continue through late August.

A detour will be in place, diverting motorists along Bushy Run Road (Route 993), Business Route 66 and Oakford Park Road.

Work by Plum Contracting will include improving drainage, making road repairs, replacing guide rails and trimming trees.

The Route 130 site is one of four slides PennDOT District 12 has slated for repair in a project expected to continue through August 2026 at a cost of about $2.7 million.

The other slides, all in Washington County, are on Route 40 in California Borough, Route 88 in Coal Center and Route 136 in South Strabane.

Meanwhile, PennDOT is planning the following work on roads in Westmoreland County during the week beginning Monday, weather permitting:

• A pipe replacement is scheduled in Hempfield, on the outskirts of Jeannette, closing a section of Penn-Adamsburg Road, between Gratz Street and Julie Dean Lane. Traffic is being rerouted along Penn High Park Road, Baughman Avenue, Park Street, Pennsylvania Boulevard, Route 30 and Edna Road.

• Additional pipe replacements will take place on Route 819 (Armbrust Road) in Mt. Pleasant Township and Horseshoe Bend Road in Cook Township.

• Pipe installation will take place on Route 982 in Kecksburg, Mt. Pleasant Township and Laughner Road in Fairfield Township.

• Patching will take place on Route 30 in Unity and Derry townships and Route 981 in Loyalhanna and Washington townships.

• Base repairs will take place on Arona Road in Hempfield.

• Shoulder cutting will take place on various routes in East Huntingdon and South Huntingdon.

• Shoulder stabilization will take place on Route 31 (Summit Road) in Donegal Township.

Edge paving will take place on:

• Route 31 (Summit Road) in Donegal Township

• Water Street in East Huntingdon.

Crews will pick up litter, replace road signs and perform other tasks on various routes countywide.

Motorists should anticipate potential detours, lane restrictions and flaggers in work areas.

Residents can call PennDOT toll-free at 800-349-7623 to report road maintenance concerns and the locations of dead deer on state highways.
