One person was hospitalized after a crash involving a passenger vehicle and a PennDOT plow Wednesday afternoon in Ligonier Township, according to PennDOT.

Route 30 eastbound was closed for about 40 minutes as firefighters worked to free one person who was trapped in a vehicle, according to a Westmoreland 911 dispatcher. The crash happened at 1:50 p.m. at the highway’s intersection with Route 259 just east of Idlewild & SoakZone.

The injured person, who was driving the passenger vehicle, was taken by medical helicopter to UPMC Presbyterian for treatment, according to the dispatcher and a fire official. Two other people involved in the crash refused treatment at the scene.

State police are investigating, and the cause of the crash has not been determined, according to PennDOT.
