A library expansion is taking shape on Jan. 17, 2019, on the Saint Vincent College campus in Unity.

The public is invited to Saint Vincent College at 9 a.m. Wednesday to learn about and provide comment on the library renovation and expansion that is under construction.

The meeting will be held in Room 2AB on the upper floor of the Fred M. Rogers Center, Unity. Parking will be available. Reservations are requested. Contact Christine Bierbower at chris.bierbower@stvincent.edu or 724-805-2223.

The $22 million project includes a 13,000-square-foot addition. The expanded building will house three floor levels within two stories and will feature four new classrooms, a computer lab, a video production suite, a writing and tutoring center and a social space with a barista cafe.

Contractor Rycon Construction “moved along really quickly over the last couple of weeks,” said Jim Berger, the college’s associate director of marketing and communications for public relations. “A lot of rafters are in place, the foundation is in place, and the outer shell is in pretty good shape.”

Construction is proceeding in three phases, with the final phase set for the summer of 2020.
