A Salem Township man is accused by state police of raping a female at a birthday party this week, according to court papers.

Zachary John Saflin, 22, allegedly took alcohol to the Ligonier Township party and provided it to several people under 21, police said.

He was arrested Friday on charges of rape, aggravated indecent assault, unlawful restraint and providing alcohol to minors.

The female accuser told investigators that around midnight Monday, Saflin restrained and sexually assaulted her while she repeatedly said “no” and tried to get away, according to court papers. Troopers did not say in court documents if the accuser is an adult or child. Police could not be reached.

A witness told troopers that Saflin was “clearly doing things against the victim’s will,” according to court papers. Saflin admitted the assault and hearing the accuser tell him no, police said.

He was being held in the Westmoreland County Prison on $10,000 bail. He did not have an attorney listed in online court records.

A June 5 preliminary hearing is set.
