Greensburg Salem School District’s gain in its business office will be a loss for the McKeesport Area School District.
The school board has hired McKeesport Area business manager Joan Wehner. The board this week unanimously approved a five-year contract for Wehner, extending through June 30, 2026, with a prorated starting salary of $105,000.
“I’m excited to have her,” Superintendent Ken Bissell said of Wehner, who has worked in McKeesport since March 2020. “She comes highly recommended by a lot of people in the business manager community.
“We have newer staff within our business office. She’ll be able to come in and understand what needs to happen and how to organize and get us on track.”
Wehner, who lives in North Huntingdon, previously was the assistant to the business manager at Penn-Trafford School District, where she worked for 10 years.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Duquesne University and is working toward a master’s degree in business administration.
Bissell said Wehner’s starting date has yet to be pinned down. “We’ll be in contact with McKeesport to help with the transition,” he said.
Until then, Greensburg Salem will continue to use the services of interim business manager Mike Gigliotti, who is working as needed, three or four days per week, at $625 per day. Gigliotti is retired as the business manager at Woodland Hills School District.
Greensburg Salem’s previous business manager, J.R. Dzurica, recently left to serve in the same role at Mt. Pleasant Area School District, in the community where he spent his childhood.
