Scottdale Public Library received a $50,000 donation from Scottdale Bank & Trust, the bank’s parent company announced.

The donation was through the Educational Improvement Tax Credit, or EITC, a program of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development.

Parent company Mid Penn Bank of Millersburg, donated a total of $700,000 through the EITC program in 2019, distributing the funds to a variety of organizations throughout its 12-county footprint.

Library Director Patty Miller said the donation will be used for the library’s educational programs targeting young patrons in grades 8-12.

“It allows us to do some programs that we otherwise would not be able to do,” Miller said. “It’s really elevated what we’ve been able to do for that age group.”

The library serves Scottdale, Everson Borough, East Huntingdon and Upper Tyrone Township.

“We are proud to partner with the Scottdale Public Library, an organization that provides so much to its local community,” said Linda Tasser, commercial loan officer and retail market manager. “This library helps spark a lifetime love of reading and learning for so many.”
