Scottdale man sought in alleged kidnapping
Police are looking for a Scottdale man who they said kidnapped a woman and kept her in a wooded area for about two days, according to court papers.
An arrest warrant was issued Wednesday for Shawn Prince, 29. He is charged with kidnapping, simple assault, terroristic threats and harassment.
Borough police were notified Wednesday afternoon that the woman hadn’t been heard from in a couple days after a domestic dispute. During a welfare check at a home on Jennings Avenue, police reported no one was home.
While they were there, the woman called 911 from the parking lot of the police station where she had driven herself and Prince when he fell asleep after using drugs.
The woman told police Prince kidnapped her Monday, drove her to a rural wooded area she didn’t recognize and put a gun to her head, according to court papers.
They stayed there until Wednesday morning. When Prince used drugs and allowed her to drive, she eventually recognized an area in Fayette County and headed toward the Scottdale police station, authorities said.
Prince woke when she got out of the car and drove away, threatening to set her house on fire, according to court papers.
Anyone with information of his whereabouts is asked to call 911 or Scottdale Police at 724-887-8220.
