Westmoreland County Prison
Nicole Moore, 25, of Scottdale

A Scottdale woman was jailed Monday night after police said she beat a woman with a wooden baseball bat and ran her over with a car before fleeing, according to court papers.

Authorities said Nicole L. Moore, 25, became angry after she saw the woman video recording a 3-year-old child Moore left alone in her car. She is charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and related offenses.

Scottdale police were called to the 700 block of Pittsburgh Street at 6 p.m. for a report of a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle near Pittsburgh Street Park. Police said they found the injured woman in a parking lot reporting back and pelvis pain.

Multiple witnesses told investigators Moore arrived at that location in a red Kia Soul and left the child inside while she went to an apartment, according to court papers. The woman who later was hit by the car used her cellphone to take a video of the unattended child, and an argument between her and Moore ensued when Moore returned, police said.

Moore got the bat out of her car and hit the woman three times and the woman lobbed a brick back at Moore, witnesses told police. Moore got into her car and fled, hitting the woman and dragging her as Moore drove through a grassy area between two houses, according to court papers.

Paramedics tended to the injured woman. It was unclear from court papers if she was hospitalized.

Police caught up with Moore a short time later. She was arraigned before 9 p.m. and was being held at the Westmoreland County Prison on $50,000 bail. She did not have an attorney listed in online court records. An April 20 preliminary hearing is set.
