Scottdale woman charged by troopers with escape after arrest for DUI, reckless endangerment
Editor’s note: Warner completed an Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition program and had charges expunged, according to state police documents she provided. Criminal mischief and loitering/prowling charges were withdrawn, according to those records.
State police arrested a 44-year-old Scottdale woman over the weekend, who twice attempted to slip out of handcuffs when they detained her on charges of loitering outside an ex-boyfriend’s residence.
Troopers reported Laura Faye Warner also made 10 nuisance calls to 911 during the incident at 12:35 a.m. Sunday outside a residence in the 2200 block of School Street in Mt. Pleasant Township, where she also is accused of firing a 9 mm handgun into the side of her sport utility vehicle.
Police were dispatched to investigate a report of a domestic disturbance and found Warner sitting in her 2019 Nissan Rogue with damage reported on the driver’s and passenger sides of the vehicle, “a bullet hole in the passenger side door” and a damaged mirror, Trooper Nicholas Hood reported.
According to court documents, Warner was “uncooperative with 911 dispatchers” during numerous calls she made to them during the incident but did inform them she had a firearm.
“Warner was completely irate and would not answer any questions,” Hood said.
Hood said Warner smelled of alcohol and told officers she drove after drinking rum. Hood reported police found numerous 9 mm shells around the ex-boyfriend’s residence.
Hood said Warner was handcuffed and placed in a patrol car for transport to Excela Health Frick Hospital in Mt. Pleasant to have blood drawn. She removed her seat belt and unsuccessfully attempted to “climb into the driver’s compartment” before she was subdued, troopers reported.
At the hospital, Hood reported Warner again attempted to slip out of the handcuffs and had to be restrained and secured a second time. Police said she refused to provide a blood sample for forensic analysis.
Warner is charged with driving under the influence, escape and reckless endangerment along with loitering and prowling. She also was charged with causing damage to unattended property after troopers said she struck a parked vehicle in Scottdale while driving to School Street.
Warner was released Sunday on $1,000 unsecured bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled April 14. Online court dockets indicate Warner has no prior criminal record in Pennsylvania.
Warner could not be reached for comment. She did not have an attorney listed in court documents.
