A scene from outer space is displayed in the planetarium of the Sis and Herman Dupre Science Pavilion at Saint Vincent College in Unity.

Skygazers who have marked their calendars for the April 8 solar eclipse can catch a sneak peek of the celestial event at Saint Vincent College.

The college’s Taiani Planetarium will present shows on the eclipse at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday and at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. on April 6.

Admission is free for the all-ages shows, but seating is limited. For reservations or more information about the shows, contact Erin Black at erin.black@stvincent.edu or 724-805-2631.

The planetarium is located in the Sis and Herman Dupré Science Pavilion on the college’s campus in Unity.

The April 8 eclipse will pass over parts of North America, with locations on Mexico’s Pacific coast experiencing totality at 2:07 p.m., the college notes.

The totality is scheduled to reach Erie at about 3:15 p.m., while people in Allegheny and Westmoreland counties will experience a partial eclipse.

Certified eclipse glasses are needed to avoid eye damage while viewing the eclipse.
