State Sen. Kim Ward, R-Hempfield, will hold a telephone town hall Wednesday afternoon about the coronavirus pandemic in Westmoreland County.

Ward said she will be joined by Coroner Ken Bacha and Excela Health emergency medicine Dr. Heather Walker at 2:40 p.m. Constituents can listen to the discussion by phone or online.

There were 291 cases of the virus reported Tuesday in the county by the state health department. Bacha reported that 25 people died as of Monday night while the state said 20 deaths were virus-related. Bacha is receiving information about the deaths sooner than the state because deaths related to infectious diseases are required by law to be reported to coroners in the county where the death occurred.

The state health department recently released data about confirmed cases by ZIP code.
