A Scottdale man will serve up to 10 years in prison for the armed robberies of a gas station and two discount stores last year.

Clyde Mensch, 42, pleaded guilty Monday to 15 separate counts, including three charges of armed robbery, in connection with the December heists in which he was accused of shielding his face and threatening store clerks with a gun.

In addition to the armed robbery counts, Mensch pleaded guilty to two charges each of making terroristic threats, theft, receiving stolen property and simple assault. Westmoreland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rita Hathaway sentenced Mensch to serve three to 10 years in prison.

Police said Mensch and two others first robbed the Sunoco in Scottdale on Dec. 19, stealing $257 in cash.

Three days later, on Dec. 22, Mensch and two others were accused of holding a store clerk at gunpoint and stealing $415 from the Dollar General store at Crossroads Plaza in East Huntingdon. On Christmas Eve, police said Mensch used the same weapon during a robbery at the Dollar General store in Scottdale that netted $402.

Investigators, according to court records, obtained surveillance video of the robberies along with an anonymous tip that Mensch bragged about his involvement in the heists. Police searched Mensch’s home in January and found clothing and the suspected weapon depicted in the surveillance video.

Mensch’s girlfriend, Katrina Rogers, 46, confessed to her involvement in the robberies and identified Mensch as the man who entered the stores and wielded the gun. Rogers told police Mensch bought crack cocaine with the money from the robberies.

Armed robbery and other related offenses are still pending against Mensch in connection with similar allegations at the Honey Bear Sunoco in Connellsville on Dec. 22.
