A Seward man was recognized by the Indiana University of Pennsylvania for his involvement in the community.
Kamden Boyle, who is pursuing a master’s degree in public affairs from IUP, received the aspiring alumni award from the university during a gala earlier this month.
Boyle is a 2024 IUP graduate in political science and homeland security. The son of Nicolas and Nicole Boyle, Kamden is a 2022 graduate of Ligonier Valley High School.
“Through his work in admissions, housing and alumni engagement, he bridges the student-alumni experience with enthusiasm and purpose,” said Jennifer DeAngelo, IUP’s vice president for university advancement. “Kamden’s dedication and service signal a bright future as a deeply involved and impactful alumnus.”
In 2024, Boyle was selected for IUP’s Bridge Builder award and was named resident assistant of the year. He was the Crimson Guide of the Year, the organization for student tour guides, last year.
Boyle is an advisor for the IUP Ambassadors student-alumni group, an assistant for the Office of Alumni and Friends and housing operations, and is an intern for the Office of Student Leadership.
He was a reporter for IUP’s student newspaper, The Penn, and a member of the homecoming committee.
Other awardees included Sloan Kayla Dantzler, regional impact; Denise and Patrick Imbrogno, affinity service; and the Punxsutawney Area College Trust, advancement support.
Distinguished Alumni Award recipient, faculty emeritus and 1965 IUP graduate Charles Cashdollar, and his wife, Donna Cashdollar, were recognized with the Legacy Impact Award in honor of IUP’s 150th anniversary.
Karen Deklinski, former president of IUP’s Alumni Board of Directors and a West Newton native, provided the keynote address. Deklinski is a 1979 government and public services graduate of IUP and was the university’s first woman Student Government Association president.
