A Sewickley Township man who pleaded guilty this week to charging at his neighbor with a knife will be released from jail to inpatient treatment, according to a court order.

Kurtis C. Baker, 33, pleaded guilty Wednesday to terroristic threats, criminal mischief and drug possession. He was sentenced to six to 23 months in the Westmoreland County Prison, according to a court order.

He was given credit for time served in jail since his arrest in late July.

The neighbor state police said Baker was charging at grabbed the knife and held the suspect down until troopers arrived, according to court papers. The neighbor reported investigating a noise he heard outside his Yukon Road home, just north of Yukon, around 4 a.m. July 27. As the neighbor walked to his vehicles to check his tires, the suspect raised a knife above his head and ran at the man, police said a witness reported.

Several other charges against Baker were dismissed by prosecutors.

He was ordered to pay $700 in restitution and is forbidden from contacting the neighbor or entering the property. He was ordered to get mental health and drug and alcohol evaluations.
