Westmoreland Manor on Monday, Sept. 28, 2020.

Westmoreland County officials on Thursday reported the coronavirus-related death of a Westmoreland Manor resident, the sixth resident to die from the disease.

The announcement came on a day when new cases throughout the county totaled 133, Westmoreland’s second highest daily increase since the pandemic began.

The number of coronavirus cases among residents and staff remained unchanged Thursday — at 125 and 35, respectively. Three residents were hospitalized.

A majority of residents at the manor are asymptomatic or exhibit few symptoms of the illness, officials said.

According to county Solicitor Melissa Guiddy, one additional staff member at the Westmoreland County Prison tested positive for the coronavirus as of Thursday, for a new total of 12. Coronavirus infections among inmates at the prison were unchanged, at 45.
