A South Greensburg-based company that is directing coronavirus safety kits to school districts around the country is hoping to do the same for food kitchens and shelters for the homeless and women.

AssetGenie will donate kits to shelters and food kitchens that have the greatest need, spokeswoman Jessica Szakos said. An online application with the company will help officials determine how to allocate the kits, which include masks, floor decals and hand sanitizer, stands and dispensers.

“As the need for food and shelter surges, we understand the increased demand placed on food kitchens and shelters during the pandemic,” said Scott Dulon, president of AGParts Education, a division of AssetGenie. “As more people fill these places and human interaction increases, we want to support these organizations by safeguarding their staff and those in need against the virus.”

AssetGenie officials supplied the kits to more than 100 school districts around the country with another round of donations being distributed in the next couple weeks, Szakos said. Greensburg Salem and Jeannette schools are expected to receive supplies. The kits are being awarded to schools in a similar fashion — with applications being selected based on need.

The company will continue donating masks and hand sanitizer to schools through the end of the school year. As a mobile device logistics company, AssetGenie works with thousands of school districts nationwide.

Expanding the offering to nonprofit shelters and food kitchens came at the same time as the virus continues its fall surge locally and across the nation. Some states have been enacting more stringent closures, including at schools and restaurants, as positive cases of the virus skyrocket.

Recipients of the kits will be selected from shelters and food kitchens that apply online at agigrouponline.com/covid-19-donations.
