A South Greensburg councilman pleaded guilty Monday to a disorderly conduct citation filed by state police regarding a fireworks complaint, according to court records.

George Cole, 53, paid $262.25 in fines and costs on the summary offense.

Troopers were called to Oak Street July 11 after neighbors reported fireworks were being set off in an unsafe manner. Police said Cole was present while children set off explosives.

When those present, including Cole, were asked to stop, he became belligerent, uncooperative and “advised me that he was my boss because of his title as a councilman of the Borough of South Greensburg,” Trooper Hannah Huber said.

The citation was filed July 14.
