Two South Huntingdon residents were behind bars Wednesday after police said they took two children to a drug transaction in North Huntingdon, according to court papers.
Gregory Carvallis Jr., 34, and Chelsey Palko, 35, were arrested Tuesday evening after a North Huntingdon officer reported seeing a Ford Bronco tailgating another vehicle on Route 30 east. During a traffic stop, police found two children, ages 2 and 7, unrestrained in the backseat, according to court papers.
Palko admitted there was a brick of heroin in the SUV and she pulled a bag of crack cocaine concealed in a body cavity, police said. Investigators determined from license plate readers that the pair traveled through North Versailles on Route 30 between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. before being stopped in North Huntingdon after 6:40 p.m.
Carvallis and Palko are charged with child endangerment and reckless endangerment. Palko additionally is charged with drug possession and Carvallis is charged with conspiracy. Both suspects were being held at the Westmoreland County Prison on $150,000 bail each. Neither had an attorney listed in online court records. Preliminary hearings are set for Dec. 12.
