Southwest Greensburg seeks council member for five-month term
Southwest Greensburg is looking for a new council member to serve a five-month term to replace Jeanne Davis, who resigned effective July 10.
Davis was about a year and a half into her second consecutive four-year term, said borough Manager Corry Sheffler.
The borough will accept applications for her replacement through July 30. It has received one application so far, Sheffler said.
Council will choose its new member at a special meeting Aug. 1.
“I’m looking for someone who wants to be a working council member, someone who not only comes to the meetings but also is willing to work outside the meetings to do what’s best for the borough,” Sheffler said.
The new council member won’t be around long, unless they choose to run for election.
Davis’ seat will be on the ballot in November, with whoever wins serving a two-year term instead of the typical four.
Council members are paid $75 a month.
Applicants must have lived in the borough for at least a year. They can send letters of intent to Southwest Greensburg Borough, 564 Stanton St., Greensburg.
