One person was taken into custody Thursday after a brief standoff when Jeannette police and agents from the state Attorney General’s Office attempted to serve an arrest warrant, police said.

Investigators shut down a block of Gaskill Avenue after the suspect hid in an apartment of a quadplex in the 900 block. Police set up a perimeter and searched apartments inside the building, according to police Chief Shannon Binda. The suspect came to the window of a downstairs apartment, and police were heard yelling “put your hands up” and “hands on the windows” while several residents watched from their porches and yards. The man was taken into custody by the state attorney general’s Special Operations Group at 4:10 p.m.

Police searched the apartments and found two guns, heroin, cocaine and about $800, Binda said. The man’s identity was not released.
