The Starbucks coffee chain is preparing to open a drive-through location in East Huntingdon.

Earth-moving has begun at the site along Bessemer Road, between Route 119 and a GetGo convenience store.

“Starbucks is always looking for great locations to better meet the needs of our customers,” a company spokesperson said.

According to the spokesperson, the new Starbucks will cover more than 2,500 square feet and will employ about 25 people.

It’s expected to open in the fall.

York-based Real Services Inc. is overseeing the construction, according to township officials.

The closest freestanding Starbucks locations are along Route 30 in Hempfield, at the Eastgate Plaza, and farther west, at Greengate Centre.

According to the Starbucks website, its coffee also can be had at the Hempfield Target store and the Pennsylvania Turnpike New Stanton westbound plaza.
