Pennsylvania accepting applications for environmental project awards
The state is accepting applications for the 2020 Governor’s Awards for Environmental Excellence from those who participated or led an environmental stewardship project, as well as all schools, nonprofits, businesses, farms, and government agencies.
People or organizations that conducted an environmental project may also be nominated.
Applications for the 2020 Governor’s Awards for Environmental Excellence will be accepted until Dec. 17 on projects that were completed by Oct. 15.
The Department of Environmental Protection oversees the award selection process, evaluating projects on seven criteria: degree of environmental protection, climate change, sustainability, partnership, economic impact, innovation, and environmental education and outreach. Projects don’t have to meet all criteria to merit an award.
Projects that previously received an Environmental Excellence Award aren’t eligible for the 2020 awards.
Guidelines may be found at www.ahs.dep.pa.gov/GovernorsAwardsApplication on the application web page.
