State police in Greensburg said Tuesday they hope a hoodie will help them identify a suspect in a theft at a Hempfield convenience store late Saturday.

Troopers said a woman stopped 11:25 p.m. Saturday at the Sunoco convenience store in the West Point area to ask the clerk for directions.

“The victim had set her wallet down on the counter next to the kiosk to speak with the clerk about directions and left without taking possession of her wallet,” said Trooper Martin Mihelic.

About one minute later, Mihelic said security photographs show a female customer wearing a protective mask and a black sweatshirt with white lettering, “Another Day Clean,” entering the store to buy cigarettes.

“The suspect then grabs the victim’s wallet after purchasing cigarettes and exits the store in an unknown direction,” Mihelic said.

Mihelic said the wallet contained $57, multiple bank and credit cards, the victim’s Social Security card and birth certificate.

Anyone with information is asked to call state police in Greensburg at 724-832-3288.
