Hours after posting an alert for a missing endangered person, state police in Greensburg said they have located the missing man known in the Greensburg-Latrobe areas as “Bicycle Bob.”

“He has been located and is safe,” said Trooper Stephen Limani about 4:25 p.m. Thursday.

“We received a tip he was in the woods behind the Latrobe 30 Plaza so they went back and found him. He was OK and taken to the hospital for evaluation,” Limani said.

Earlier Thursday, a public alert was issued because no one had seen Robert J. Huston, 56, of Youngwood, since the daylight hours Monday.

Limani said he was last seen in the Youngwood-Greensburg area operating a blue 10-speed bicycle with a tote on the front.

“Robert lacks the ability to care for himself and there are concerns about his mental state,” Limani said.

Acquaintances reported Huston missing, police said.

The only transportation Huston uses is his bicycle, Limani noted.

Huston is well-known fixture in the area. He rides his bicycle on highways and is often seen outside shopping plazas. A social media blog was created in 2010 dedicated to “The Legend of Bicycle Bob.”
