State police looking for Hempfield man accused of fleeing arrest, threatening girlfriend

State police this week obtained an arrest warrant for a Hempfield man wanted for threatening to harm his girlfriend and fleeing from police.

Police are looking for Shawn P. McCune, 32, of Grapeville, on charges of driving on a suspended license, false imprisonment, fleeing and eluding, flight to avoid prosecution, terroristic threats and simple assault.

Trooper Nicholas Parker reported the incident began at a residence on Stevenson Street about 7 a.m. Tuesday when McCune allegedly began arguing with his girlfriend and ordered her into his yellow SUV.

Parker said the woman told investigators that McCune, who was intoxicated, threatened to “burn down the home” unless she left with him and so she got in his vehicle. According to court documents, the pair headed toward Greensburg with McCune “driving erratically,” striking trash cans and other objects along the way.

McCune then ordered the woman out of his vehicle, threatening harm to her family, according to court documents. The woman told police that after she got home, McCune contacted her again and told her she had to leave the residence or he would harm her family.

According to Parker, the woman said when she walked outside the residence McCune struck her car with his vehicle, almost hitting her.

She then called state police asking for assistance. Parker said troopers obtained an arrest warrant for McCune and then went to his residence about noon when McCune fled in his SUV. Police said he ditched his vehicle nearby on the 2800 block of Fitzpatrick Street and ran away.

Troopers were unable to locate him.

McCune is described as a white male about 6 feet 1 inches tall, 185 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.

In 2015, McCune pleaded guilty to fleeing state police after a several mile chase through Hempfield, where he crashed into two police cruisers. He was sentenced to home electronic monitoring for 23 months in that case, according to court dockets.
