State police are seeking help to identify a man who fled from a traffic stop in New Stanton.

State police are seeking the public’s help to identify a man who fled from a traffic stop earlier this month in New Stanton.

Trooper James Daggett said he pulled over a black Honda near a West Byers Avenue hotel around 8:30 a.m. June 15 for a registration issue and illegal window tinting. His dash camera captured a few photographs of the man before the suspect fled the stop onto Interstate 70 westbound.

“He exited the vehicle and jumped back in,” Daggett said. “I terminated the pursuit because of his driving actions.”

Daggett, who works out of the New Stanton station, said the suspect may have been involved in a similar incident involving troopers from the Belle Vernon and Greensburg stations hours later. The man pictured in the dash camera photographs released by investigators is white and was wearing khaki shorts and a black hooded sweatshirt.

He is facing the potential for felony charges in connection with the pursuit.

Anyone with information about his identity is asked to call the New Stanton state police station at 724-755-9463.
