Two central Pennsylvania men were arrested Tuesday in New Stanton after state police said they found about 500 pounds of suspected marijuana inside a pickup truck, according to court papers.

Chad Ryan Stephens, 31, of Cumberland County, and Sean Michael McCaleb, 32, of Perry County, are being held in the Westmoreland County Prison on $250,000 bond each. They are charged with drug offenses.

State police said McCaleb failed to use a turn signal at 12:20 a.m. while merging from the Pennsylvania Turnpike onto Interstate 70 westbound near the New Stanton exit, according to court papers. Troopers stopped the GMC Sierra and could smell marijuana coming from the pickup.

Police searched the vehicle and seized packaged suspected marijuana from inside the bed of the pickup, according to court papers. A small amount of suspected marijuana was found inside the truck, police said.

McCaleb faces an additional citation for the alleged traffic violation. Preliminary hearings are set for July 29.
