One new coronavirus-related death was reported in Westmoreland County on Friday, according to state health officials.

The state reported 16 new county cases, which is a 2.8% increase, bringing the respective totals to 218 confirmed cases and six deaths.

Coroner Kenneth Bacha is critical of the state’s recording system, saying that it is behind the actual numbers and may not be counting all cases.

The Westmoreland County Coroner’s Office was reporting 11 deaths on Saturday morning, the same as it had Friday.

There was one new death reported in Allegheny County on Saturday morning.

Fayette County reported 50 cases and three deaths; Indiana County has 40 cases and three deaths; and Somerset County reported no new cases with a total of 10 and zero deaths.

The state’s total coronavirus case count is 21,655, the data shows. The 1,676 new cases reported Saturday is about an 8.3% increase over the previous day’s statewide case count.
