State reports 2 new coronavirus cases, no new deaths in Westmoreland County
The Pennsylvania Department of Health on Monday reported two new covid-19 cases and no additional deaths in Westmoreland County.
The countywide case total is now 492 with 38 deaths, according to the department
County Coroner Kenneth Bacha reported 32 coronavirus deaths, less than the state’s number, but Bacha’s office has not updated its count since May 7. The coroner’s website says the information will be updated only when a new case is reported to the office.
Of the deaths recorded by Bacha’s office, 15 were men and 17 were women. The youngest was 61 years old, and the average age was 83.
More than 12,900 county residents have tested negative for the virus.
Statewide, there have been 79,121 recorded cases of coronavirus, and 6,243 deaths, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
Westmoreland County moved to the green phase of Gov. Tom Wolf’s phased reopening plan on June 5.
