Norwin elementary school teacher is finalist for state teacher of the year
The state Department of Education announced Friday that Rachel Kalberer, an elementary teacher in the Norwin School District, is among 12 educators nominated to be the 2024 Pennsylvania Teacher of the Year.
Other finalists and their school districts are: Anthony Angelini, Conewago Valley; Brittney Bell, Carmichaels Area; Jonathan Bickel, Eastern Lebanon; Ashlie Crosson, Mifflin County; Benjamin Hoffman, Kutztown Area; Heather Kilgore, Chester County Intermediate Unit; Stephanie Machmer, Jersey Shore Area; Aspen Mock, Forest Hills; Justin Ward, Laurel Highlands; Sharon Williams, Rose Tree Media; and Sally Ann Wojcik, Philadelphia.
Each year, the teacher of the year program recognizes excellence in teaching by honoring K-12 teachers in public education.
The 12 finalists are selected from applicants and recognized in Harrisburg each fall with the winner announced at a state awards ceremony in December.
The teacher of the year represents Pennsylvania at various national, regional, and local functions culminating in the national teacher of the year ceremony at the White House.
