An East Huntingdon house was destroyed by a fire Saturday morning, a fire official said.

No one was injured in the fire that destroyed the house in the 200 block of South Quarry Street, East Huntingdon Volunteer Fire Department Chief Brian Kite said. The fire was reported about 8 a.m. Saturday.

Firefighters and neighbors reported hearing ammunition popping inside the burning structure. The fire was under control by 9 a.m., though firefighters continued to pour water on hot spots inside the house.

The cause of the fire has not been determined, Kite said.

East Huntingdon, Mount Pleasant, Scottdale, Connellsville and Everson volunteer firefighters were among those at the scene just outside Mount Pleasant Borough. Mutual Aid Ambulance also responded.
