Summer in Ligonier Arts and Crafts is planned for July 17-18 in downtown Ligonier. Here, Kay McMillan of Ligonier shops at a previous event.

Summer in Ligonier Arts and Crafts is planned for Friday and Saturday in downtown Ligonier.

The event, running from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. both days, will feature vendor sales in Diamond Park, along with merchant sidewalk sales.

Vendors will offer wares including handcrafted jewelry, carved and painted gourds, pen and ink drawings and metal art.

Also on hand will be Disobedient Spirits, a distillery from Homer City, Indiana County; and Millicent Bell Hughes, an author of American historical fiction.

“We’re keeping it simple this year, but I think we have a nice little mix of vendors going,” says Scott Haines, executive director of the Ligonier Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Unlike previous years, Summer in Ligonier will not include carriage rides or children’s activities, due to the covid-19 pandemic.

Vendors will wear masks and have hand sanitizer available, and shoppers also will be asked to wear masks in compliance with Pennsylvania Department of Health guidelines, Haines says.
