Sunrise Elementary School reports 5th coronavirus case

An additional staff member at Sunrise Elementary School in the Penn-Trafford School District has tested positive for coronavirus, bringing the total count to five, the district announced Wednesday.

No positive student cases have been reported.

Sunrise closed Oct. 8. It will stick with its plan of reopening Oct. 22 despite the additional case, in accordance with state Department of Education guidelines, according to the district.

Contact tracing has been completed, and those who were in close contacted with infected staff members have been contacted, the district said.

All students will continue to receive remote instruction.

The district has had numerous confirmed cases of coronavirus.

Penn-Trafford High School has had three cases. It was closed Friday and reopened Wednesday, despite three new cases being reported this week.

Harrison Park Elementary School has two cases. It also closed Friday and reopened Wednesday.

Level Green Elementary School has eight cases. It closed Sept. 30, and is set to reopen Thursday.
