A Tarrs woman is accused of forging two painkiller prescriptions at an East Huntingdon doctor’s office where she worked as a medical assistant, according to court papers.

Davina Lee Potoka, 44, allegedly wrote the prescriptions for herself for 120 oxycodone pills each, state police said.

Potoka is charged with acquisition by misrepresentation, forgery, theft, drug possession and tampering with records. She is free on a recognizance bond.

State police said workers at Saloom Family Health Center contacted them on Dec. 31 to report a forged prescription found in Potoka’s desk. Police said in court papers that the prescriptions were signed by a nurse practitioner who told troopers she never prescribed oxycodone to Potoka.

Office workers learned Potoka had tried to get one of them filled a few days earlier at an area pharmacy, according to court papers. Potoka told troopers she asked the nurse practitioner to sign blank prescriptions and claimed they were for her brother, who was recovering from an earlier injury.

She did not have an attorney listed in online court records. A phone number for her could not be located. A Jan. 30 preliminary hearing is set.
