An arrest was made in a shooting that injured two boys in Jeannette.

A 16-year-old boy charged with attempted homicide in a Jeannette shooting this month was apprehended Monday, according to Jeannette Police Chief Shannon Binda.

Desean Ingram of Jeannette, who also was shot during the altercation, was arraigned Monday afternoon and is being held without bond at the Regional Youth Services Center in Hempfield, according to online court records. He is charged as an adult.

City police and Westmoreland County detectives had been looking for Ingram since getting an arrest warrant for him Thursday. Police said they were called to the intersection of Locust Street and Lowry Avenue April 7 when a fight broke out after a confrontation between a 17-year-old boy who lives nearby and a relative of Ingram, according to court papers. Police say the confrontation stemmed from an ongoing feud.

Ingram is accused of firing six or seven shots at the 17-year-old boy, chasing him and continuing to shoot as the teen ran away, police said. The boy was shot in the hand.

His mother returned fire at Ingram who was shot in the thigh and fled, police said. Both teens were hospitalized. The mother is not being charged because investigators believe she was acting in defense of her son. District Attorney John Peck has said he believes the woman’s actions were justified.

The 17-year-old boy told police he overheard Ingram say “I don’t fight, I shoot” before the altercation started, according to court papers.

In addition to the attempted homicide count, Ingram is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment and possession of a firearm by a minor. He did not have an attorney listed in online court records. A May 6 preliminary hearing is set.
