Teenage boys charged in connection with Hempfield armed robbery
Two teenage boys were charged as adults over the weekend in connection with an armed robbery in Hempfield.
Daniel Govora, 17, of Crabtree, and Cayden Essway, 16, of Greensburg, are each charged with robbery, a felony, and theft and possession of a firearm by a minor, both misdemeanors. Essway faces an additional felony aggravated assault count.
State police said they responded to a Mt. Pleasant Road location Friday evening for a report of an armed robbery. A witness reported to troopers that Essway pointed a gun at his head and Essway and Govora demanded he empty his pockets and take off his clothing.
Essway is accused of punching the man more than a dozen times, according to court papers.
“After the robbery took place, Govora took multiple pictures with all stolen items,” police wrote in court papers.
The pair is accused of taking the man’s clothing and shoes. They were being held on $35,000 bail each. Neither suspect had an attorney listed in online court records.
