The Westmoreland invites essential workers to reopening preview
Prior to reopening to the public on Aug. 5, The Westmoreland Museum of American Art will welcome members and essential workers to an exclusive reopening weekend Aug. 1-2.
The special hours at the Greensburg facility are “a way to say thanks to members for supporting the Museum during the temporary closure and to essential workers who continue to serve on the front lines during this pandemic,” according to a release.
Members and essential workers will need to pre-register for a timed ticket for their visits, between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. each day. Timed entry will ensure that the museum stays within required occupancy capacities.
Following the Aug. 5 reopening, museum operating hours will be 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesdays-Sundays. Admission remains free.
These safety policies will be in effect:
• Advance online registration will be required for all visitors. The first hour of admission, from 10-11 a.m., will be reserved for high-risk individuals.
• Masks or face coverings, which cover both mouth and nose, will be required for entry and must be worn at all times.
• Visitors not in the same party and staff must stay at least 6 feet apart from others when moving through the museum.
• Visitors and staff are reminded to follow proper hand-washing recommendations, which are posted in the restrooms.
• The museum’s Café Marchand will remain closed for the time being.
• To minimize contact with high-touch surfaces, the museums has temporarily eliminated hands-on art activities and closed the Center for Creative Connections.
• Storage lockers will not be available — visitors should leave all non-essential items in their vehicles or at home.
• Anyone who is sick, experiencing symptoms of covid-19 or has been exposed to someone with covid-19 in the past 14 days is asked to follow quarantining guidance and not plan to visit the museum until having been symptom-free for at least 14 days.
