The Westmoreland Museum of American Art launches the holiday shopping season this weekend, with discounts, complimentary refreshments and gift wrapping.

Dwi Bartlebaugh, shop manager since June, notes several local artists and makers have items for sale. She also is adding more items for children and jewelry and ornaments featuring nearby Pittsburgh landmarks.

Patrons who browse the museum shop’s holiday mart Nov. 15-17 can enjoy 10% off purchases of regularly priced merchandise, museum officials say.

Hours are 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Nov. 15 and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Nov. 16-17.

On Nov. 17, guests can enjoy live holiday music from the Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra String Quartet from 1-2 p.m.

Also on Nov. 15, trunk show artists will be on hand from 7-9 p.m., including Bruce Senchesen (anodize titanium jewelry and demonstration), Buildings by Shane (prints/crafts), local jewelry designer Kathryn Stanko, Healthy Thoughts Better Lives (scarves), Nan Loncharich (felt flower pins) and Tate Newfield (glass, Pittsburgh Glass Center).

“This is our best seller,” Bartelbaugh says of Loncharich’s felt flower pins.

Holiday mart items include custom ornaments and jewelry from Audra Azoury, including jewelry featuring PPG Place and the Andy Warhol Bridge, and a set of ornaments of Pittsburgh’s well-known bridges.

Pittsburgh jewelry designer Paula Nettleship has several colorful stone necklaces for sale.

Pittsburgh mother and daughter team The Pretty 1 also have some delicate jewelry in pastel shades, just right for slipping into stockings or tucking under the tree.

Patrons also can choose from gift items like a wooden music box, playing “Up on the Rooftop,” and baby onesies from The Neighborgoods declaring “Cutie Pie” and “I’m Kind of a Big Dill,” as well as holiday tea towels and cards.

Some “just for fun” gift ideas sure to make yinzers — and those far from and longing for home — smile include Andy Warhol’s 15 Minutes of Foam soap, Mister Rogers Sweater Changing Mug and finger puppets including Warhol and Frank Lloyd Wright.
