A man was hospitalized after being stabbed Saturday night in Trafford, police said.

Timothy Rosario, 29, of Trafford, was arrested on attempted homicide, aggravated assault and related offenses.

Borough police said they were called to a home on Westmoreland Road at 10:15 p.m. and found Rosario standing outside with a large stick, according to court papers. The wounded man also was outside covered in blood.

While taking Rosario into custody, police said he admitted to stabbing the man and claimed it was in self defense. Officers reported they didn’t see Rosario with any injuries. A knife was recovered from the driveway.

The wounded man had multiple stab wounds to his head, stomach and shoulder, according to court papers. He was taken to a Monroeville hospital.

A witness told investigators the two men got into an argument that turned physical.

Rosario was being held at the Westmoreland County Prison without bail. He didn’t have an attorney listed in online court records. A preliminary hearing is set for April 7.
