Trafford woman arrested in Jeannette hit-and-run; pedestrian injured
A Penn Township woman was jailed Friday after police said she hit a man with a car in front of a Jeannette restaurant Thursday night and fled, according to court papers.
The pedestrian told police he had parked across the street from Johnny’s Wife’s Place and was walking toward the restaurant when a green Honda hit him from behind, investigators reported.
A woman, who police later identified as Maria Ann Martini, 32, got out of the car and asked the man if he was OK. When he said he was calling 911, police said Martini and two men got into the car and took off on Harrison Avenue.
Police found the car on Penn Avenue and arrested Martini. Inside the car was a white, powdery substance police suspect was heroin or fentanyl and a stamp bag of heroin marked GPS, according to court documents.
The victim was hospitalized for ankle and foot injuries, police said.
Martini is charged with aggravated assault by vehicle, accidents involving injury, drug possession, fleeing from police and related offenses. She was being held on $10,000 bail. She did not have an attorney listed in online court records.
A Jan. 17 preliminary hearing is set.
